“Suzy has taken such beautiful pictures of my daughters in the past, so when the opportunity came up to take part in one of her workshops – I jumped at it! We started our course in Suzy’s gorgeous studio surrounded by her outstanding photography- no pressure! But Suzy put our small group at ease and within minutes we were learning amazing techniques and how to photograph our children together. Suzy’s ability to shoot in a natural setting was shown to us on a walk in the beautiful lanes surrounding her studio. We had such a wonderful morning with invaluable tuition and tailored information, not to mention fun and coffee too! I was so inspired I am already researching a new camera to take next time and can’t wait to learn how to edit!” – Rachel HartleyMy next course will be on Friday 3rd April 2020. Maximum 3 Delegates. The course lasts half a day and is £150 payable at the time of booking. Please contact me if you’d like more information T 01943-817730 (studio) E email@example.com
Beginners Workshop Training Session Ilkley
Last Friday was a landmark day…I held my first workshop entitled “How to take Better Photos of your Children.” Aimed at beginners it was a long time in the planning but it felt hugely satisfying to pass on some of my experience gained over a decade of photographing children.
Often on family shoots parents will ask me for tips, wanting to know why their photos don’t turn out how they had hoped or imagined they would.
Well, as a parent of two girls myself I remember feeling this way when our first daughter was born. At that point I was still a lawyer and didn’t have sufficient time to study complicated manuals or really invest any time in trying to get better; I could really have done with someone to point me in the right direction! The parents I chat to aren’t interested in F stops, aperture, exposure etc. They simply want some tips they can pull on and easily recall, especially when they are on holiday and everyone is relaxed. Holidays are one of the best time to capture memories, especially those of you all together
A big thank you to Friday’s delegates who braved the rain, enjoyed coffee and chats in the kitchen and asked questions, learning as I illustrated key points with a slideshow of do’s and don’ts.
Here is what one of the delegates had to say:
